Tokyo-born Mamiko Ikeda is a Denver-based cultural educator, artist, poet, animator, author, and manga comic creator. Early in her life she began studying shodo (Japanese calligraphy) with her mother, master calligrapher Shotei Miura, as her guide. Drawn to the American West to study Native American culture and storytelling, Ikeda earned a Master?s Degree from the University of Denver in Liberal Arts, specializing in American Indian Studies.

She and Miura co-authored the book, "Japanese Calligraphy: The Basics," published in 2012 in the States, and set for release in Japan by Nichigai Associates, Inc. in February 2014. Mamiko's art and animation movies have appeared in a variety of Colorado venues including Downtown Aurora Visual Arts, The Museum of Outdoor Arts, and Denver's Republic Plaza.
